About the farmhouse

The  Rich Country Farmhouse is located just outside of the village of Hobart, New York in the rolling farmland of Delaware County.

The home was built in the 1830's and was for many years the "hired hands" house.   Actually, two families lived there when it was originally built!

Times change and about four years ago the house became empty for the first time in about 50 years.  Rather than let it sit empty, it became a weekend project to remodel and update the building.  When the job was done, it was decided not to rent it full time, but to offer it as a vacation getaway.  We hope you find it to be cozy and comfortable - a place where you can put up your feet and relax!

You'll find the "little blue house" located on the farm complex which was until recently an active poultry farm.  There was also a Holstein dairy herd on the farm until the early 1980's.  Our family has owned the property for several generations and still resides there - next door and down the road.

And although the farm is no longer a "working farm" there's still a flock of friendly chickens and a welcoming cat named Georgie to greet you upon your arrival.
The farm's property is nestled in the valley and is bordered by the west branch of the Delaware River.  Right through the middle of the property runs the the Catskill Scenic Trail - perfect for a walk, run, cross-country ski, bike ride or a snowmobile trek.

Feel free to explore the farm property during your visit!
